Every Champion has to have Confidence
For those that do not know me well, I am an avid chess player, I play a blitz game or 2 almost daily online (& now that you know that you may see the chess influence in my work). But recently I was watching this interview with the current world chess champion, Magnus Carlsen, and the last 5 minutes of the interview was very fascinating to me. I love that Magnus is trying to be modest but the interviewer keeps pushing him and I believe Magnus shares some insight that applies directly to the art world. Essentially its the notion that there are many people who have the requisite skill set to become the best, but its the ones who have absolute confidence in what they are doing that rise to the top. I whole heartedly believe in this notion and it was interesting for me to hear Magnus describe it in such a way.
