28×32″ Watercolor & India Ink 0n Twinrocker Handmade Paper

This was a commissioned painting for a good friend of mine from his wife for his birthday.  In true fashion, I finished right at the last minute and the completion date is the same as his birthday, April 4.   For this commission I was not given a whole lot of direction other than they wanted it to compliment another piece of mine that would be displayed in the same room.   This a perfect case scenario for me, I’ve got just enough information to have a direction to head but enough creative freedom to allow myself to really get into the piece and the ability to make crazier compositional decisions along the way.

One of the things that I don’t think the clients expected was since I know them well, I decided to take it upon myself to load the piece full of fun content & meaning hidden throughout the composition.  I had a ton of fun creating this painting and it was really exciting to see their initial reaction to the piece as they discovered the layers of meaning.
